One of the delights of winter is the blissful sharing of really good food and wine with friends, especially around a toasty wood fire. This is also one of the highlights of time spent at Poronui in the colder months. Life is not all about fishing at this time of year as the cool evenings close in early and the first wine is poured as the sun sets.

Poronui is a hugely popular wilderness stay in the central North Island. Well-known for its world-class fly fishing, it offers a different range of experiences through winter.
During the cooler months food is a highlight at Poronui, but there are plenty of other ways to fill your time there as well. Horse-trekking, hiking, mountain biking and cooking classes are popular, as are relaxing spa treatments, time in the gym or sauna, and checking out the local area on a variety of day trips.
